About

Hello, I'm Takako.

I’m a Japanese illustrator and print maker based in London. I grew up in the Japanese countryside surrounded by nature which made me especially conscious of the changing seasons and inspire to create with colour.

After completing a graphic design degree from Central Saint Martins, I began working as an illustrator building up images with layers of colour, drawing me towards Letterpress and Riso printing techniques.

I'm interested in exploring illustration work that addresses important issues such as the environment and climate change. Recently I enjoyed the development process of conveying complex and challenging topics to young audiences in a way that is both engaging and inspire change. Additionally, I am excited to further explore how I can merge traditional printmaking techniques with letterpress to add depth within my illustration practice.

My work often focus on diverse characters, domestic scenes and family life and I would describes my style as vibrant, joyful and humorous. As a member at London Centre for Book Arts I can often be found at their studio, printing with a cylinder proof press or carving Lino block.
